Staged Reading of
Before It Hits Home
By Cheryl L. West
Directed by Viera Whye

A provocative play on the impact of AIDS on one family.  This complex and thought provoking play explores the effect of AIDS on one young man, his lovers, and his family - that did not believe it could happen to them.  It portrays the emotional stages of AIDS diagnosis - anger, denial, acceptance, and seeking forgiveness and understanding.  It is often times raw and candid confronting homophobia, fear, and sibling rivalry, as well as courageous, compassionate, and insightful.  This play was written before medical care was what it is today and AIDS was a sure "death" sentence; HOWEVER it sounds a wake-up call that we must be educated, aware, and Get Tested!  Mature Themes, Strong Language!
